Call for Workshops Now Open for SilviLaser 2027

We are delighted to announce that the Call for Workshops for the SilviLaser 2027 conference is now open. Ahead of the main scientific program, SilviLaser 2027 will open with a dedicated Workshop Day on Monday, September 13, 2027, and we are looking for hosts to lead hands-on, practical sessions for the forest LiDAR community.

The Workshop Day, held ahead of the official opening, is a unique opportunity to share tools, methods, and practical skills directly with an engaged international audience.

Who Can Apply

Workshops may be proposed by anyone: academics, early-career researchers, industry, software developers, and practitioners are all welcome.

Topics of Interest

We welcome workshop proposals on all topics related to LiDAR and forest remote sensing, including but not limited to:

  • Systems, sensors, and data collection: operating terrestrial, mobile, UAV, airborne, and spaceborne LiDAR platforms; sensor integration, field protocols, and data quality.
  • Point-cloud processing and analysis: segmentation, classification, 3D tree reconstruction, and the retrieval of forest attributes at different scales.
  • Software tools and workflows: open-source and commercial tools, processing pipelines, and reproducible workflows for forest LiDAR.
  • Machine learning and AI: applying deep learning and other data-driven methods to forest point clouds.
  • Data integration and multi-source fusion: combining LiDAR with optical, inventory, or other data sources.
  • Applications: linking LiDAR to forest management, biodiversity, carbon accounting, and climate-change mitigation.

Format

  • Standard slot: 3 hours
  • Extended slot: 6 hours — hosts may request two slots for workshops requiring more time.
  • Workshops run in parallel and have limited capacity.
  • Workshop will take place strictly on-site at the conference venue in Warsaw on Monday, September 13, 2027

What We Provide

The conference provides the room and a projector. Hosts are responsible for their own teaching materials, software, and data; participants should be advised in advance to bring their own laptops and any required setup.

Host Benefits

  • Each accepted workshop receives a 50% discount on the conference registration fee for one host (applicable to a single person, regardless of the number of co-hosts).

Important Date

  • Deadline for applications: November 30, 2026
